Ever wonder what your student is talking about when they say: "Wow, I received four squad points today!"
What are Squads?
-Each class is divided into FOUR squads (also known as groups or clusters) and each one is assigned a color
-Students are RANDOMLY assigned to the four squad groups
-Squads are usually assigned the second week of school and are permanent
HOW do students receive them?
-Points (chips) are physically given to students when they perform some form of expected behavior
-Examples:
-Sitting as a "whole body listener"
-Showcasing the Broadmeadow rules
-Showcasing the "Golden" rules
-Answering questions correctly and accurately
-Demonstrating desired concepts and skills
-Demonstrating perseverance, teamwork, and determination
-Once students receive a chip, they place it in their squad's colored cup
-Squad leaders (change every month) count all squad points at end of day and report to teacher
-At end of the month, SUPER SQUAD is announced
-Super squad privileges: line up first in line, first to get equipment, and more
